I always think of my underwater scenes as reflective of our human life above the water.
.
How, at the very same time, life is so full of kindness and compassion, even as it is fraught with rampant killing and imminent danger, with safe and neutral territories and scary streets you’d avoid if you could.
.
How there are sneaky eels hiding in the coral, waiting to strike the unsuspecting finny lunch; silvery minnows flitting around the wavy plant stalks, bright scallops appearing like uplifting lights in a dark sea.
.
How many humans are like those critters, and how do you deal with them, within the Great Balance of it all?
.
How do you keep your equilibrium?
.
How do you keep from diving into despair at what we humans have done to our beautiful planet?
.
How do you keep in touch with your center, your Source, so you can keep from flaming out in anger, drowning in tears, or finally, becoming numb and indifferent to it all?
.
Close your eyes, and breathe.
.
Do it again.
.
Focus on the flame in your belly.
.
That’s your center of energy.
.
Blow softly on the flame, until it lights you from within.
.
Let the light spill from your every pore.
.
You are a human beacon, lighting up the shadows of despair. Tend to your light carefully, every day.
.
Know that your awareness, your love, your light, is really the only thing you have.
.
Feel that — how simple, how profound it is.
