Supposedly . . .
As you know, I’ve been taking a highly intense, galactically-comprehensive course on the business of being an artist. Comprehensive is the biggest understatement ever!
I’ve been immersed in all this for months now, and my head is exploding! We have taken a deep dive into all the various ins and outs of licensing, wholesaling, print-on-demand, websites, shopify-or-etsy choices – and a whole lot more.
One of the things my instructor, Stacie Bloomfield, who is IMHO one of the best instructors on the planet, says, is “go slow.”
Go slow. Right! You’re talking to Ms Rocket here! When I get an idea, I like to sketch it out quickly, do the main moves, and blast forth with a finished thing within a day.
But here I am, 4 months later, still accessing the library, even tho the course ended in mid-May! There is a ton of videos to watch, and I learn so much from each one – it’s one of the richest collections of classes in any one course I’ve ever seen.
Tonight, after more than a week of feeling consumed with the issue of will-the-fire-turn-and-come-back-to-get-us, and being ready to scoot just in case, and trying to stay current with the info I’m doing my best to learn, all along with the daily doings of cooking-dishes-laundry-watering-plants – even taking a shower is an effort.
So I did this design to honor the Go Slowness we have been told to adopt. I shall have it printed on silk, and I shall wear it this winter when I want to remind myself that being a snail is OK, even if my internal being is a Rushing Rabbit.
Here you can see the original design, and the repeat design which is more of an abstract experience of the design.
Let me know if you’d like one of the limited edition, 36″ square silk scarves of this powerful, fun design. Just contact me!
