WHERE DID MY ENERGY GO???

I’m used to being one of those annoying full-of-juice, c’mon-let’s-go people who get everyone else motivated and moving and having way too much fun as we make waves in the world with our artful creations.

Orchids of a different feather

So now it surprises the shit out of me when sometimes I feel like I’ve been rolled over by a semi truck, and can’t even get up out of bed, much less open my eyes or lift a finger.

But there it is. Sure puts a damper on stuff I want to do before I finally croak. Hopefully I’ve got another 20 years to go, but I hope it isn’t all days where I can barely move.

Last night I was ruminating how the entire day had been lost to the pain in my back, and feeling pretty pissed about it. Nothing like distraction from your god-given Purpose of adding beauty to the world.

I began thinking about some of the things that energize me. It’s a short list, but full of powerful things. One of them being green things. Growing things. Viny leafy flowery rooty things. Full of color and weird shapes and strange ways. I find plants endlessly fascinating.

So I drew this as I was sitting with my coffee after dinner. I called it Orchids, for lack of any other designation – it certainly isn’t any orchid I’ve ever seen! The pointy leaves, curly tendrils, and berries – and the color! – are not within the genus at all. I mean, how many bright yellow orchids have you ever seen? With berries!

But – you know how Things Can Be – they plop into your head and won’t be budged. So – Orchids it remains.

I think it will make an outrageous silk scarf. Some daring person will glom it up and drape it cleverly and artfully around her neck, over a black top under her long, full, multi-brilliant-hued coat, and she’ll strut right down the street in it in her silver boots – I wish I could be there to see!

I’m not asking for pity or poor-you’s about the pain I experience. Instead, if you want, I would love it if you would imagine me with a healthy, strong lower back that doesn’t hurt me all day long and into the night, and send that intention and love to me as a love-balloon that will soak right into me and help me feel better. That would be awesome. Thanks!
